@Arden: Here's the language I found on the Starbucks website regarding locations where it might not be valid:
Certain Starbucks-branded locations may not permit you to use the Starbucks Card for payment, including some airport, grocery and bookstore locations, or in stores in Puerto Rico, Guam and those outside continental North America. For an up-to-date list of stores that accept the Starbucks Card, call 1-800-STARBUC.
I'd call that number and check! -

Edit: @MrsKoala: I just saw your post. I have used mine at both Target and the airport, maybe it's case by case? I bought one yesterday (they sent me an early email about it b/c I've bought one before) and just moved it to my Starbucks card.

@mediagirl: I have had mine refused at the airport several times so it is location by location! That's why I thought checking on the list might be more helpful!

@Arden: if you buy the groupon, you can open it up and it will give you the option to transfer to your Starbucks card. Or, you can go into your Starbucks account and view your cards. Then, choose the card you want to transfer the fund to. You then just need the card number and pin from the one you bought on Groupon.

@Arden: I've used it at a Target and an airport before. Though I live in Seattle where Starbucks are everywhere.
If they don't have have a scanner, they will just type in the card number.
It was refused once but I forget where it was.
As for adding it to my starbucks account, i use the starbucks app. I add the new card to my account then transfer the funds over to my primary card. I think you go into the manage accounts then transfer.
ETA- yeah, like others said. I would call the store to check. I hope you can use it.

@T-Mom: Yeah, I got my poor college student niece to buy one for me... 'gifted' it to me. Haha. I first suggested she buy it for herself but she went on about how it's so expensive considering she has complete meals on campus for $5 and continued about how it's so many calories and not good for you. Haha! I'm getting schooled from my 19 year niece.
She said she could 'gift' one to me. I told her I could give her my credit card or send her money. She insisted that she could afford it. Yup, aunt of the year, here!
I'm planning on sending her a care package, anyway, but yeah I feel like a crazy coffee obsessed aunt.
Anyway, after getting it gifted to me. I, too, tried to gift it to my husband's account but it didn't work. Only ONE per person.
